Turkish-Italian producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Carlita has announced details of her second album, Telepathy, which is set to be released on November 6 on Ninja Tune.
The 13-track album, which features collaborations with SOFI TUKKER, Justine Skye, Malive, Paige Cavell and Cleo Simone, has been preceded by a new single, One More Dance featuring Stevie Appleton, which is out now.
According to Carlita, the album, which follows on from her previous long player, Sentimental, is about “thinking about somebody or something with no attempt at possessing that thing, only for it to come into your life anyway.” In other words, forms of communication that never get spoken, involving connections between people and their past, as well as the individuals and there world around them.
Tracks from the album have already started to emerge – Patchwork became Carlita’s first ‘Hottest Record’ on BBC Radio 1, while Manhattan (featuring SOFI TUKKER) became her first BBC Radio 1 ‘B List’ record.
As a press release put it, ‘Carlita’s records work like perfume: they return to you later, attached to a person or a memory. Telepathy moves a room but stays with you long after, sitting somewhere between a pop record and a night spent dancing in a smoky basement without compromising either side.’
The release also continues Carlita’s work across music, fashion and visual culture. The album’s creative direction was developed with Pedro Damasceno, while its cover and album photography were produced by Rafael Pavarotti.
Carlita has previously performed for YSL Beauty and collaborated with Louis Vuitton, Chanel and FENDI, while appearing in Vogue Italia, GQ Italia and L’Officiel. Her Senza Fine event series has combined music, fashion and art through events staged around New York Fashion Week.
She’s in the middle of her busiest touring year to date, with appearances at Coachella, Sónar, Outside Lands, Tomorrowland, Distortion Copenhagen, DC10 Ibiza, Surf Lodge and Circoloco already under her belt, and forthcoming events at CRSSD Fest in San Diego (26 September) Depot Mayfield in Manchester (2 October) and EDC Colombia in Medellín (10 October) October 10, not to mention shows in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico in November.
