Booka Shade are marking the 20th anniversary of the release of their seminal album Movements, with two new editions due for release on 27 November via Telegram Rights.
A ‘super deluxe’ digital edition will feature the original 2006 album with a Dolby Atmos mix, 19 remastered tracks from the era’s 12-inch releases and five new remixes, while the album will also be available as a 2LP silver vinyl edition.
Movements was released in 2006 and had an immediate impact both within and outside the electronic music community, with Pitchfork placing it among its top 50 albums of the year. The album’s influence continues to permeate, with Jax Jones and RAYE using the bassline from Body Language for their 2016 track You Don’t Know Me.
The new anniversary remixes bring producers from different parts of the contemporary club scene to the album. Scottish producer Mha Iri reworks In White Rooms, while Shermanology, the Caribbean-Dutch sibling duo, contribute a new version of Pong Pang: the Bounce To My Beat remix. The collection also includes new remixes from Jody Wisternoff, Hugo Cantarra and sone., and Wally Lopez.
The ‘super deluxe’ digital edition will also include 19 remastered tracks from the period’s 12-inch singles. These include remixes by Hot Chip, Tiefschwarz, Radio Slave, Elektrochemie and Shinedoe.
The vinyl edition will contain the remastered Movements album across two 180g records. It will feature new artwork by Eike König, who designed the original release, alongside new liner notes written by Kammermeier and Merziger.
The two new anniversary editions are set to be released on 27 November.
