Biesmans has announced the release of Moments Of Rapture pt. 2, the second instalment in a project that reflects on the clubs that have influenced his career over the past 25 years.
The Belgian artist’s project features eight tracks based on clubs that played a significant role in his development as an artist: Cube, Groovy Tunes, Shaft and Fuse in Belgium, and Watergate, Renate, Sisyphos and Panorama Bar in Berlin.
’25 years behind the decks, and it’s time I told this story,” Biesmans said of Moments Of Rapture. “I wanted to make an ode to the clubs that shaped me as an artist. So I wrote one track for every club that mattered: four in Belgium: Cube (where it all started), Groovy Tunes (my first big residency), Shaft (my most conflicted time), Fuse (where I started playing after I moved to Berlin), and four in Berlin, where I became who I am today: Watergate (my gate into the Berlin scene), Renate (where I met my wife and have my studio), Sisyphos (where I always have a good time), Panorama Bar (the most mythical of all dancefloors – still unreal).
“Each one is inspired by that specific place, that specific time in my life; it’s a snapshot, but seen through the lens of who I am as an artist now. Every club, every moment in my life, had its own sound, its own strain of house or techno that defined that time for me.
“So I took those sounds with me, and mixed them with the feelings, the moments of rapture I experienced in those places. That’s the sonic backbone of this whole album, and it’s also why these are real club tracks, made for the floor, not the couch.”
Both parts of Moments Of Rapture are set to be released as a joint album on 13 November. You can pre-order the album here.
