Japanese-born, Texas-based DJ and producer Qrion recently announced details of her forthcoming new EP on Sasha‘s Last Night On Earth label, Arp Check, which is set for release on 30 October.

The producer, who was named in Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30, has described the EP as featuring “tracks that I would personally want to play loud in a club,” and features her distinctive melodic style.

Qrion has also released on labels such as Anjunadeep, Mad Decent, This Never Happened and Ultra Music, and remixed Booka Shade, Röyksopp, CRi, and others. Her two long players to date, 2021’s I Hope It Lasts Forever and 2025’s We Are Always Under The Same Sky, were both released on Anjunadeep.

For this week’s #MyRecordBag, Qrion shares her ‘top hidden gems found through Discogs’.

Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You (DJ Sneak Remixes)

“This remix builds around an iconic sample. It works really well as a DJ tool, and it’s incredibly groovy. I’ve played it at a few gigs, and it always brought such great vibes to the dancefloor.”

Björk – Violently Happy [Masters At Work Dub]

“A beautiful dub mix by MAW, with such incredible use of samples. I was absolutely blown away the first time I heard it.”

Loods ‘N Grab – Love Is Real

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Loods and Mall Grab, and I discovered this record on Discogs during the golden era of lo-fi house. I also love that it’s vinyl-only because of sample clearance issues.”

Hugg & Pepp – Snabeln

“Such a unique track, starting with an electro-inspired intro before transitioning into a trancey breakdown. The synth melodies are absolutely beautiful!”

Tonka ft. Lara McAllen – Get Back

“I’m a huge fan of Tonka’s melodies, especially his 2000s work. I think this track is incredibly catchy and really sticks with you.”

The Future Sound of London – Papua New Guinea (Shadow Child Remix)

“I’m a huge fan of Shadow Child, but I only stumbled upon his remix of this legendary track while browsing records. The bassline is absolutely killer!”

The Poison Club Trax – The Club

“Although I mostly listen to house music, I also enjoy exploring other genres, and this is one of my absolute favourites. I especially love the melody that comes in after the breakdown. It’s so good!”

DJ Snoopy Featuring Lil Momma – East West Bitch

“I absolutely love breakbeats! I went through a phase where I was really into Baltimore club music, and I used to buy a lot of records from that genre.”

DJ Technics – Girlfriend

“This will forever be one of my club anthems. I discovered this track while going down a Discogs rabbit hole when I was really into Jersey club, Baltimore club, and breakbeats.”

Unknown Artist – #DRGS03A [DRGS003]

“A vinyl-only record by an unknown artist, featuring a Missy Elliott sample. I absolutely love this track! There’s something really charming about how mysterious this record is, too.”

Thanks to Qrion for her selections. The Arp Check EP is released on Last Night On Earth on 30 October.
