Italian DJ and producer Dino Lenny has been a mainstay of the dance scene for more than 30 years, with releases on labels such as R&S, Diynamic, Innervisions and Bedrock and collaborations with the likes of Underworld, Missy Elliott, Wu-Tang Clan and Madonna.

His latest release is the It’s Saturday Remix EP on Fine Human Records, which features a new version of the 2023 track, which was originally released on Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio – titled It’s Saturday Again – as well as a Sideral remix of Skream and the new track Calm Down Cool Down.

For this week’s #MyRecordBag, Lenny rolls back the clock to pick his top selections from his ‘long raving hair days’… over to you, Dino!

Orbital  – Chime

“Made history by entering the official UK Top 40 chart and delivering a well-earned performance on TOTP.”

Richie Rich – Salsa House

“FFRR in those days was one of my favourite labels. It has released so many classics, and that’s another reason why Pete Tong is such a legend.”

Westbam  – Hold Me Back

“I still play this one, and it rocks the place every time.”

UBQ Project – When I Fell In Love

“Deep house vibes with a great hook.”

Bomb the Bass – Beat Dis

“This one came out a few months after MARRS’ Pump Up the Volume, which completely changed the dance scene. Super exciting and packed with uncleared samples. Of course…” 😉

808 State – Pacific State

“I played this one out so much that I saw them perform on Top of the Pops and thought, ‘Here Comes the Revolution’…”

Goldie – Inner City Life

“A classic tune from Goldie – this is the kind of track that transcends genres.”

Raze  – Break For Love

“This one still sounds fresh. Keith Thompson’s great vocals, produced by Vaughan Mason. Classy, but at the same time trippy.”

The Sabres of Paradise – Smokebelch II

“Cinematic, emotional and gentle, still considered an unmovable gem from the techno movement.”

Adam F  – Circles

“When I was signing to Positiva in the 90s, this one came out on the same label. That’s when I said to myself, ‘I’ve got no chance with my one’. It samples Bob James’s Westchester Lady. It’s such a clever and elegant record.”

Dino Lenny – It’s Saturday Remix EP is out now on Fine Human Records. Keep up to date with his latest releases here.
