Techno legends Steve Rachmad and Speedy J set to tour as live duo

When it comes to techno, Steve Rachmad and Speedy J need no introduction, with the Dutch maestros behind some of the biggest underground hits of the last thirty years or so.

Now, the pair have announced they are teaming up for a host of live shows next year, in what Rachmad has described as a ‘new improvised live duo’, as well as what we hope will be a string of releases.

Commenting on his Facebook page, Rachmad said, “After a series of improvised live jams at Speedy J’s (amazing) studio, we both felt a comfortable and complementary connection, so we didn’t have to overthink the next step.

“The first release, which is the outcome of our jam session last April, is already available on STOOR’s Bandcamp page and from 2023 we will also be touring together as Speedy & Steve live.”

Elsewhere, as Speedy J put it on his Facebook page, “Of all the spontaneous connections made during the last 2 years, the one I made with Steve Rachmad aka STERAC has turned out to be a very productive collaboration. After the Stay Home Soundsystem jams we realised we had a really nice flow together, especially while improvising live.

“Recently we spent some more time in the studio and recorded a bunch of music, and we also tinkered with setups to see how we can put together a live show.”

The vinyl version of the Speedy & Steve EP has already sold out, but we’re hopeful that the pair might opt to expand production to more than 50 copies – the techno community needs it! More information here.
