James Ruskin, co-founder of Blueprint Records, is marking the 30th anniversary of the label with the forthcoming release of a remastered edition of his 1998 album Further Design.
Ruskin founded the label alongside Richard Polson in 1996, and over the years it played a significant role in British techno, releasing music from artists including Rommek, Kr!z and Truncate.
The reissue of Further Design forms part of a year-long anniversary programme that has already included the release of the Power Is Neutral EP, which saw Mark Broom revisit classic tracks from Regis, while releases from Kerrie and Nastia are set to follow later this year.
For the anniversary edition, Ruskin has remastered the ten-track album while preserving the stripped-back rhythms with layered percussion and synthesiser work that define his sound.
As a press release put it, “It is testament to Ruskin’s original vision that Further Design remains as evocative today as it was upon its release, full of otherworldly imagery and grooves that continue to move dance floors around the world.”
