Soma Records has announced a remix EP of tracks by Glasgow producer Tony Scott, also known as Percy X, which is the third instalment of the label’s SOMA35 series.
The release, SOMA35.3, is out now on digital and streaming, and is due to be released on vinyl on 16 October. It features reinterpretations by Surgeon, Phara, Lindsey Herbert, and Voicedrone & Gareth Wild.
Percy X has been associated with Soma Records since 1994, with his debut, X-Tracks. Over the years, he has released a number of albums, including Spyx, Gain and Where’s The Music, as well as a series of EPs and singles.
‘This latest edition adds another crucial piece to the story. His connection with Soma reaches back to the label’s formative years, making this release more than a retrospective exercise,’ Soma said in a press release. ‘It is a reminder of how deeply the work of its artists has become woven into Soma’s identity and how those records can still provide a starting point for new interpretations decades later.’
The new EP opens with Surgeon’s remix of Odyssey, followed by Phara’s version of the track Reproduction. The second side features Lindsey Herbert’s remix of X-Track and a joint remix of Dark n Sharp by Voicedrone and Gareth Wild.
The label added that the SOMA35 series has a consistent aim – ‘ not simply to revisit the catalogue, but to put it back into the hands of artists operating at the forefront of contemporary techno‘.
