Re:versal Records has released a new four-track vinyl featuring remixes associated with legendary house artists Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan.
The release, REV003, includes Womack & Womack’s MPB (Missin’ Persons Bureau) (Frankie’s Paradise Ballroom Mix), What Am I Missin’ by Frankie Knuckles and Adeva, Gwen Guthrie’s Peanut Butter (Larry Levan Mix) and Syreeta’s Can’t Shake Your Love (Larry Levan 12” Mix).
Knuckles and Levan helped shape the sound of the early New York and Chicago club scenes, building on sounds associated with Motown, soul, disco and electronica. Levan was resident DJ at Paradise Garage in New York, while Knuckles worked at The Continental Baths in New York before becoming associated with The Warehouse in Chicago.
For the release, Re:versal Records dug into the Universal Music archive to search more than 100,000 releases, sourcing original DAT tape masters and selected rare remixes and dance and electronic music tracks for each release.
