Tiga‘s new album, Hotlife, has just been released – the Montreal DJ and producer’s first full-length project in more than a decade.
Released on 17 April through Turbo Recordings and Secret City Records, the album features collaborations with Boys Noize, Matthew Dear, Fcukers, MRD, Gesloten Cirkel, Paranoid London, Maara, Priori and Patrick Holland (aka Jump Source).
The project is Tiga’s fourth studio album, and lands during an ongoing international tour, with performances scheduled across Europe and North America, including at Coachella.
The release follows a period in which the artist reported dealing with a neurological condition he refers to as ‘vibe fog’ – as he put it, “At a certain point, it was either buy the exoskeleton and cash out my Virgin Megastore stock, or rebuild Tiga City from the ground up, brick by brick, gargoyle by gargoyle.”
This period led to a reassessment of his approach to music production and contributed to the direction of the new record, he added.
“My yes/no response time to artistic choices is off the charts. We took each second shaved off every creative decision and reinvested it into the album’s runtime. 12 songs. 60 minutes. Remarkable.”
