Above & Beyond announce details of forthcoming studio album, 'Bigger Than All Of Us'

Above & Beyond have announced that their fifth studio album, Bigger Than All Of Us, is set to be released on 18 July on Anjunabeats.

Above & Beyond, composed of Jono Grant, Paavo Siljamäki, and Tony McGuinness, describe the album as a reflection on their 25 years of working together.

“This album is us appreciating how amazing this thing we have is,” they explained. “The realisation of how lucky we are that we get to be part of something like this for 25 years, and to have built a community that cares for each other in the way it does.

“It’s not about any of us individually. When we all work together to make something happen, something bigger happens.”

The first single from the album, Quicksand (Don’t Go), is set to be released on 21 March, and sees the trio work with long-time collaborator Zoë Johnston, who previously contributed to tracks such as We’re All We Need, Good For Me and Love Is Not Enough.

“We’ve been working with [Zoë] for 22 years, so she’s a part of the band,” they added. “By that token, a song with her vocals is a very reassuring thing for our audience. It says: Above & Beyond are back, in a very recognisable form.”

In the seven years since their last electronic studio album, Common Ground, Above & Beyond has focused on various projects, including the ambient album Flow State, which came out in 2019, the JODA album by Jono Grant and Daren Tate, which landed in 2022, and Paavo Siljamäki’s 2023 album under his P.O.S. moniker, Deeper Tales

In addition, they continue to manage their record labels, Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep, and Anjunachill, and host the weekly radio programme Group Therapy, which has a global audience.

A number of live performances are scheduled for this year, including performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 30, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12 and 19, not to mention a return to London’s Brixton Academy on November 15 as part of the Bigger Than All Of Us album tour.

On the new album, the group added, “There are songs on here that have stood the test of time in our little world and have had a new life breathed into them by the process that we’ve adopted. But they’re classic Above & Beyond songs, and I think they speak to the huge, worldwide effect that Above & Beyond has. A worldwide meaning. A worldwide connection.”
