Will Saul’s Aus Music marks 200th release with new EP series

Will Saul‘s Aus Music imprint is marking the the milestone of its 200th release by announcing a series of four EPs, the first of which, Tropics by Quantic, is set to be released on 27 September.

This will be followed by Dam Swindle‘s Would U Let Me, backed by K-Lone, Chloe Robinson, & DJ ADHD remixes, which will be released on 25 October, Cinthie‘s Rave Baby, which lands on 29 November, and Will Saul and Fink’s Slomo Life, which will come out on 31 January.

Commenting on the milestone, Saul (pictured) said that the ‘200 Series’ will be released as four individual EPs rather than one compilation, so that the “the music can have its own space and time to shine”.

Aus Music was founded in 2006, becoming synonymous with both deep and melodic house as well as bass-driven post-dubstep fusions. Over the years, the label has released tracks from George FitzGerald, Bicep, Dusky, and a range of others that helped define the underground landscape in the post-dubstep era between 2010 and 2015.

“It was a particularly exciting time,” Saul commented. “It felt like a new sub-genre was developing in the UK after a group of young artists grew up hearing dubstep at London’s Plastic People and started fusing house and techno rhythms with big dub-influenced basslines. We were right on the crest of that wave and released the first music from artists like Joy Orbison, Midland, George FitzGerald, Pearson Sound, Appleblim, Leon Vynehall and many more.”

As to what keeps Saul motivated to maintain the label’s reputation as a home for cutting-edge, contemporary tracks, he added that Aus Music’s ethos has always been round making things interesting, rather than chasing commercial success.

“I follow my heart and gut. If I love something I sign it, from the more esoteric and experimental to more straight up and accessible, but there’s always got to be a hook within each piece that resonates with me.”

Here is the release timeline for the upcoming EPs and tracks:

Quantic ‘Tropics’ EP – 27th September 2024.
Dam Swindle ‘Would U Let Me’ (incl. K-Lone, Chloe Robinson, & DJ ADHD Remixes) – 25th October 2024.
Cinthie ‘Rave Baby’ EP– 29th November 2024.
Will Saul & Fink ‘Slomo Life’ – 31st January 2025.
