British producer and multi-instrumentalist Quantic is the latest artist to announce an instalment in !K7 Records‘ popular DJ Kicks series, with DJ Kicks: Quantic set to land on 30 May.
Unlike other releases in the series, Quantic’s effort will consist entirely of original productions, and is being preceded by a percussive disco single, Eko Eko, which has just been released.
Drawing from Quantic’s – aka Will Holland’s – two decades of work across the UK, Colombia and the US, and his work with Latin American artists, Quantic’s DJ Kicks will explore a wide range of genres including cumbia, salsa, house, disco, and downtempo, all grounded in club culture and live instrumentation.
It also features contributions from artists such as Frente Cumbiero, Alfa Mist, Malcolm Catto, Eblis Álvarez of Meridian Brothers, and The Maghreban, with several tracks either collaborations or reworkings of previously unreleased sessions. It also features music released under Quantic’s musical alias, Sobredosis.
“It’s not like writing an album; you’re at the mercy of what other people are creating,” Quantic commented on the featured collaborations. “Fortunately, the homies’ submissions were of an extremely high calibre!”
As for the mix itself? “It’s got a moody start and end, but a big portion is uplifting and joyous,” he added. “This mix encapsulates what I’ve been up to as a DJ over the last few decades, while shining a light on people I admire.”
Eko Eko (DJ-Kicks) is out now, while DJ-Kicks: Quantic lands 30 May 2025 via !K7 Records on vinyl and digital – pre-order here. Elsewhere, Quantic is set to host an album release party on 30 May, at Phonox in London.
