Dam Swindle have been lined up to contribute the next instalment of the long-running DJ-Kicks compilation series, which is set to be released via !K7 on 20 November.
The release – which will make Dam Swindle’s Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets the first Dutch contributors to the mix series – features tracks from Osunlade, Eli Escobar, musclecars, Harvey Sutherland and Soundstream, as well as five new productions from Dam Swindle themselves.
The compilation has been preceded by a single, I Want You featuring Allysha Joy, which is out now. A second single, Keep On, is set for release on 28 October.
The 74-minute mix was recorded in Dam Swindle’s studio beneath Amsterdam’s Volkshotel, with the five new productions chosen from a stack of 30 demos by the group.
“It was close to writing a whole album,” says Smeets, who adds that the remainder of the compilation features plenty of forgotten and overlooked gems. “We wanted tracks that were special to us, but which nobody knew. Those $5 bargains in the bin at your local record store.”
The structure of the compilation evolved from the different musical preferences of the two members – Smeets wanted to explore more eclectic territory, citing Henrik Schwarz’s 2006 DJ-Kicks mix, while Dales favoured a stronger focus on club music. They eventually combined both approaches.
“When people listen to the mix, they’ll understand where we come from, what we do and where we’re heading,” Dales adds. “It’s a full circle moment for us, in that sense.”
Dam Swindle’s DJ-Kicks will be released on 20 November 2026 through !K7. You can pre-order it here.
