Experience a wild night in Amsterdam from a taxi driver’s perspective in Mau P’s new video

Sure, they can be pricey, overly talkative (or silent, depending on your mood), and boast an amazing propensity for taking the ‘long way home’ – but in many ways the humble taxi driver is the unsung hero of any night out.

That’s even more so the case in Amsterdam, where any number of creatures of the night – in various states of consciousness – may fall into the back seat.

The new (NSFW) video from tech house producer Mau P, for recent release Drugs From Amsterdam, seeks to capture some of the hedonism that a typical cabbie might experience during a night in the Dutch capital.

The track, released in September 2022 on Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars imprint, has gone on to be licensed by Island UK, Republic Records and Virgin Germany, and rinsed by DJs since as Diplo, Dom Dolla and John Summit in recent months.

A thumping house track, it even samples the sounds of the Amsterdam Metro.

Commenting on the video, Mau P said, “It’s amazing to finally have a visual version of Drugs From Amsterdam and even more amazing to have it produced and directed by one of my closest friends Tommy Reerink.

“I believe the video really shows the chaos that the Amsterdam nightlife can be and I love the idea of it being shown through a unique perspective like the taxi driver. Obviously a massive shout out to MC Stretch for his impeccable acting skills behind the wheel.”

Mau P is set to release a follow up to Drugs From Amsterdam later this month.
