MK’s unveils new music video for ‘Chemical’, announces Europe and North America tour
Remember the video for Daft Punk’s Da Funk, in which an anthropomorphic canine made his way around New York, boombox in hand? The video for house producer MK‘s new track, Chemical, channels the same energy – except in this case, the mutt in question is a bit more of a ladies’ man…
The main character in this case is ‘D The Dog’, who falls in love with a customer he serves at his fast food stand (in this universe, dogs are finely attuned to the art of deep-fat fryers), although will his existing relationship get in the way? In other words, will this particular dog be loyal?
This delightfully bizarre short, shot on 16mm film, was directed by French director Aube Perrie and Parisian production outfit MYND x Wanda, the masterminds behind D The Dog’s animatronic head, while the cast includes Jamel Elgharbi, Thea Carla Schøtt and Pauline Vernet.
A upbeat summer track, Chemical has already been crowned BBC Radio 1 ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Annie Mac, ‘Essential New Tune’ by Pete Tong and last week’s ‘Jam Hot’ by MistaJam on Capital Dance. You can buy/stream the track here.
Separately, MK has also announced a major tour of Europe and North America, which will feature shows at the Reading (27 Aug), Leeds (28 Aug) and Creamfields (29 Aug) festivals in the UK, the Hideout Festival in Croatia, and club dates in Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Middlesborough and London’s Printworks. US dates will include new Las Vegas residency at Resorts World over Labor Day Weekend (5 Sept), The Novo in LA (13 Nov) and New York venue Avant Gardner (19th Nov).
Many of the dates on the tour will see MK premiere his brand-new show production, designed by touring company eighteentwentysix. Presale access is available here: marc-kinchen.com/tour/
