BONG-747, the alter ego of producer James Bong, has paid tribute to director David Lynch on new single The Big Fish (for David Lynch).

Taking its name from Lynch’s book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity, the track forms part of a bigger project by BONG-747, described as an “unannounced album based on a list of writers and their works—people and their creations, which greatly influenced the author and society,” Bong commented.

“The album is still in the works and is scheduled for release later this year, but when the news hit that David Lynch had departed this world, it seemed like the right moment to say thank you and express fascination, love, and appreciation to the outstanding human being that he was.”

The upbeat yet dreamy electronica track, which is out now on Omninorm, is inspired by “that special fuel that [Lynch] seemed to possess and share with fellow human beings,” he added.

“The director, but also a painter, poet, writer, thinker, and teacher – not even all followers of his talent are aware of everything he did beyond directing, of his every side, because he did so much in so many fields. David was a man of many talents, but among other things, thought about life, creativity, the way and role of artists, and artistry.”

BONG-747 is described as a ‘sub-consciousness, sub-personality, sub-self and sub-project’, produced entirely on a tablet computer.
