Simon Field has released a new, nine-track album, Panda, which the Norwegian artist says is inspired by both Oslo’s underground scene as well as his own love for Chicago house music.
Released on Basement Records on 16 August, Panda follows on from a number of impactful releases by Field, including his last long player, Need No Music, which was released in August 2023 and included the tracks Work! and Let This One Ride.
“I am truly grateful for being able to express myself through music, and seeing people dance and smile to my tracks is a true joy,” Field says of his latest project.
“It makes the countless hours in the studio worthwhile. Two months ago the album was a total of 17 tracks and after back and forth between the studio and club, I landed on nine that I am very happy with.”
Known for his blend of deep, tech vocal house, Field has previously released on labels such as Armada, Universal Music, Sony Music Ultra and Perfect Havoc. Basement Records is his own imprint, established to enable him to release music on his own terms free from commercial restraints.
As well as running Basement Records, Field is also behind the Basement Sessions club series in Oslo, dedicated to celebrating the underground house sound. He also holds residencies at Norwegian clubs such as Skagum, Jæger, and Natt, and recently performed at venues such as Café Mambo in Ibiza and Berlin’s Love Parade.
