Irvine Welsh and Steve Mac team up on new track, ‘Acid House Guys’

Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh has teamed up with producer Steve Mac on a new track, Acid House Guys, which has just been released on Jack Said What.

The track, described as a ‘gurgly acid beast that nods to the acid house roots of both of these creative powerhouses’, was initially set to feature on Steve Mac’s recent Bless This Acid House long player, but Welsh was busy with other projects. Now, five months on from the release of Bless This Acid House, the track is finished and being released.

Both are co-owners of the Jack Said What label, alongside DJ Mag editor Carl Loben.

The recent Bless This Acid House album featured collaborations with the likes of Robert Owens and Marshall Jefferson, while Welsh has similarly been busy with the Crime series, which is currently being broadcast on TV.

Aside from that, the pair are also collaborating on Trainspotting: The Musical, which is set to surface sometime in 2024, with Welsh a regular visitor to Steve Mac’s The Bunker recording studio in recent months.

909originals recently caught up with Welsh to discuss the influence that acid house had on his career, which you can find here.
