#MyRecordBag – Hammer reveals his top ‘dark disco’ classics

Belfast native Hammer, aka Rory Hamilton, has come a long way since his first productions on Feel My Bicep during the mid part of the last decade, with releases on labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Correspondent, Optimo Music, Sulta Selects and Shall Not Fade, as well as appearances at Panorama Bar, Glastonbury, Fabric and AVA Festival to name but a few.

He also found the time during lockdown to launch two new labels, Italo Hiits and Remmah, both of which are in rude health – Muleña, a collaboration with emerging artist KILIMANJARO was a massive track on Remmah earlier this year – while his monthly Rinse FM residency is essential listening.

His latest release, due out on 9 December, is the Transit 2.2 EP, on Terr’s Clash Lion imprint, which can be pre-ordered here.

With Hammer also renowned for his disco edits, such as Love Somebody and Strong Enough on his Hammer Hits white label series, 909originals asked him to compile a playlist of his top ‘dark disco’ classics. Over to you, Hammer.

“I love doing articles about music, and I always write some nice sentences about tracks,” he says. “But for this piece, and for one of my favourite sub-genres, I thought it would be a nice challenge to only write two words about each selection. It turned out to be much harder than writing reasons and explanations – think of it as a musical crossword in your local newspaper. But enjoy the music!”
