Deepchord announces forthcoming new album on Soma Records

Detroit-based producer Deepchord has announced details of a forthcoming new album, Functional Designs, which will be released on Soma Records on 30 September.

The new album marks the producer’s first release on the label for five years, and has been described as an example of ‘electroacoustic techno transmitted from undisclosed locations, the amalgamation of swirling tapestries of sound, deeper than night and lifeforms moving around underneath the grid’.

As well as the 11-track album, Deepchord is also releasing two four-track EPs, Functional Extraits 1, which was released on 2 September, and Functional Extraits 2, set to be released on 14 October

Deepchord’s love of nocturnal photography also features strongly on the new album, with a variety of his own shots featured on both the album and the two EPs.

The release of the album has been preceded by the brooding single Strangers, which is available on streaming services now.

The album can be pre-ordered here.
