THROWBACK THURSDAY: Black Riot - A Day In The Life (1987)

Today, April 18, is Todd Terry’s 52nd birthday, so for this week’s Throwback Thursday, we turn the clock back to the late 80s and a piece of acid house goodness.

Under his Black Riot guise, Terry released the double A side A Day In The Life and Warlock in the autumn of 1988, and gave the young Brooklyn producer his second taste of UK chart success (the track reached a high of 68 in December of that year), coming hot on the heels of his epic Can You Party, released under his Royal House outfit.

Released on Fourth Floor Records, which in later years would go on to foster the nascent UK garage scene, A Day In The Life showcased Terry’s sampling ability, atop a hook that instantly draws you back to the Haçienda dancefloor, circa 1988.

And as for Warlock? Another stone cold classic.

Happy birthday Todd Terry!
