Boris Brejcha Announces Retirement from Music, with 2028 Set to Be His Final Year

Boris Brejcha has announced his planned retirement from the music industry, with the German DJ and producer confirming that 2028 will be his final year as an artist.

In a video statement shared across his social media channels on 24 October, Brejcha said he had decided to step away from music, following a planned series of festival appearances during 2027, and his final headline tour, Becoming the Joker, the following year.

Brejcha said the decision was not made overnight, adding that he began considering retirement several years ago and has spent the past two years reflecting on what he wants the next chapter of his life to look like. He added that he wanted to make the most of his remaining time performing, creating further memories with his fans.

“You have given me so much strength, and that’s why I want to give just as much strength back to you when we celebrate together one last time in 2028,” Brejcha said in the video.

The announcement also included a first glimpse of his final tour, Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker Tour 2028, with further details to follow.

Brejcha, widely known as The Joker due to his distinctive carnival mask, began releasing music in 2006, the same year as his first performance, at the Universo Paralello Festival in Brazil. Brejcha developed the term ‘high-tech minimal’ to describe his sound and has released music through labels including Autec Records and Harthouse. He recently released his tenth studio album on Ultra Music and was ranked 42nd in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs voting.
