Victor Ruiz unveils new single from forthcoming debut album

Victor Ruiz has unveiled Alone, the latest single from his forthcoming debut album, VICTOR, which is set to be released on his own Volta imprint on 10 July.

The Brazilian-born, Lisbon-based producer, well-known for his peak-time techno sound, shifts in a more melodic, introspective direction with the new single, which is the second track to be unveiled ahead of the album’s release.

As a press release put it, ‘There’s no rush toward impact here – instead, the track unfolds with patience. A bed of fluid, evolving percussion carries the piece forward, while a delicate piano motif anchors it with a quiet sense of clarity. Above it, a soft, almost weightless vocal line moves in and out of focus, never dominating but always present – weaving itself into the fabric of the track. It’s subtle but deeply intentional, with every element placed to create space – not just sonically, but emotionally.’

The single forms part of the wider narrative behind VICTOR, which is shaped around themes of identity, transition and isolation. Like earlier single, Silence, it hints at a new direction for Ruiz, who has said that Alone was written during a period in which he began distancing himself from the techno sound that has defined much of his career.
