Astral Plane: Total Eclipse Festival, a three-day event to coincide with the total solar eclipse in Spain this coming August, has announced full lineup details.
The festival, which takes place at La Pinilla Mountain Resorts, located in the Sierra Ayllón mountain range – around an hour from Madrid – is built around the total solar eclipse taking place on 12 August, an astronomical experience that will only occur in certain parts of Europe.
The festival programme has been structured to align with the timing of the eclipse, with a four-hour performance from Detroit legend Kevin Saunderson set to coincide with the period of totality.
Other names confirmed include Ellen Allien, DJ Stingray 313, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Lilly Palmer, Gerd Janson, Mano Le Tough and Nicole Moudaber, among others.
The festival will take place across three stages – the main Eclipse Stage will host larger performances, the Mountaintop Stage will be located on a plateau overlooking Sierra Ayllón, and the Starship Stage will be dedicated to newer artists.
In addition to music, daytime programming will include talks and workshops focusing on the scientific and social aspects of the eclipse – details of which are set to be announced soon.
The location has been selected for its position within the path of totality, and is designed to accommodate up to 10,000 attendees, with camping options available, as well as accommodation in nearby towns such as Riaza. Transport links from Madrid will provide additional access.
