BLR, aka the darker, melodic alias of Dutch producer Leon Bolier, broke through close to ten years ago with the track Nungwi on Tiësto’s Aftr:Hrs label, following that up with releases on labels such as Spinnin’ Deep, Anjunabeats, and Sink Or Swim in recent years.

His latest release is the Reason EP on Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid label, which features three tracks, Reason (featuring Brieanna Grace), Ragnarok, and Catch A Shot (featuring Truetone).

For this week’s #MyRecordBag, BLR presents five records that have most influenced his productions over the years.

Trentemoller – The Forest

“Minimalistic yet trippy, forward-thinking sound design against a melancholic backdrop. What a beauty this still is – the glitchiness in the production paired with the organic approach in instrumentation will always be inspirational.”

Rone – Flesh (Sasha Invol2ver Remix)

“That deep groove with that punching sub bass! What a journey, perfectly blended in Sasha’s Invol2ver mix. A true demonstration of minimalism meets dancefloor impact.”

Catching Flies – Satisfied

“One of my all time favourite tracks, such a beauty – use of chords, sound design, the vocal washes, both inspirational and something beautiful to listen to during long road trips.”

Sander van Doorn – Riff

“One of the many examples how minimalistic, brutal and non melodic can have so much impact too – that raw lead, wow! Have been in the lucky position myself to add an official remix to this.”

Energy 52 – Café Del Mar (Three n One Remix)

“This track is the reason why I switched to a more melodic and less fast approach to making music – during those days, as a kid, I followed the popular gabber/hardcore trend (in the Netherlands) with raw upbeat aggressive stuff, until I heard this beauty on the radio.”
