Irish producer Shampain is set to release what is being described as his debut ‘mixtape’, entitled Catching Up With Myself, in the coming days.

The Galway native has rocked crowds for around a decade, but has yet to release any of his own tracks, until now – the five-track release will act as a sampler to a wider Shampain production catalogue that’s to come over the coming 12 months.

Commenting on the release, Shampain said, “I think it’ll really allow me to reach a wider audience, and also it can be a vehicle to tap into the specific audience I’m trying to reach that I may have not been able to through solely DJing.

“More importantly I think I’ll be able to work with artists that I admire in a direct way that I was only able to before by doing radio shows and B2Bs.”

The release, produced entirely using hardware, spans a wide range of sounds – from ambient-laced club cuts to cinematic festival anthems – offering a glimpse into Shampain’s eclectic musical mind.

Drawing on influences from cutting-edge labels like Voam and Tectonic Recordings, and artists such as DJ Babatr, 1morning, and AYYA, the EP is being released on Shampain‘s own Freak Magazine platform.

The lead single One Royal Morning hits streaming on June 6, with the full EP dropping June 12. Check it out on Bandcamp here.
