Techno DJ and producer Victor Ruiz has announced the release of This Is Not An Album, a collection of tracks on his own VOLTA imprint.
The eight-track collection follows on from a series of successful releases in 2024 from Ruiz, and features both old and new material.
It was released on 8 August 2024, a date Ruiz chose for its symbolic significance, as the number 8 is a recurring theme in the project’s narrative. The collection spans various techno styles, including melodic, emotive, deep, and hypnotic tracks. You can download/stream it here.
“This release is my way of pushing back against the transient nature of today’s music industry,” Brazil-born, Lisbon-based Ruiz commented. “I wanted to create something that would stand the test of time, that people could connect with on a deeper level. ‘This Is Not An Album‘ is my revolt to a scene that often prioritises quick hits over lasting impact.
“People may think that this has been a very elaborate project but it’s not. I just felt like releasing 8 tracks out of the blue and funnily enough the date aligned perfectly. I hope you enjoy.”
