Detroit icon Eddie Fowlkes announces forthcoming ‘Forever’ EP

Detroit techno legend Eddie Fowlkes has announced details of a forthcoming EP, Forever, which lands on 24 March.

The EP, set to be released on the Rekids imprint, features four tracks – Forever, Shake Your Hips, What About Us and Nice – which showcase the myriad of styles that Fowlkes has made his own over the past four decades.

“All of my creations start off with a baseline that perpetuates other rhythms,” he said of the forthcoming release. “I just wanted to keep the impact of the vibe to hold the dance floor, so I’m always thinking about people dancing on the dance floor. Over 42 years of DJing helps me replicate that into tracks and songs.”

Formerly part of Juan Atkins‘ Deep Space DJ collective alongside Art Payne, Keith Martin and Derrick May, Fowlkes has released on countless seminal techno label over the years, including Metroplex, Tresor, Sony, Peacefrog, and his own imprints CityBoy Records and Detroit Wax.

He’s also the pioneer of a sound that came to be known as ‘techno soul’ – blending Detroit’s past and future together – as evidenced on the 1993 album alongside 3MB, The Birth Of Technosoul.

Eddie Fowlkes‘ Forever EP drops on Rekids on 24 March 2023.
