The team behind legendary Ibiza club night Manumission return with the AiLIEN event series
In its heyday, there were few Ibiza experiences as subversive as Manumission, which set the template for White Isle hedonism around the turn of the Millennium.
Now, Mike and Claire Manumission, the husband and wife team who helped run these notorious events, have returned with a new series of events under the name AiLIEN, which take place at O Beach Ibiza on the second Sunday of every month, from June to October.
As they put it, “Our story begins at the Manumission Motel and an encounter with a superior being whose name is AiLIEN. She opens a portal into a parallel universe, where everything is different: the music, the dance, the fashion, the people, even the letters of MANUMISSION (Latin for Freedom from Slavery) are rearranged into ANIMUSOMNIS (Latin for All Souls).”
Mike and Claire have teamed up with a stellar production team for the AiLIEN events, including Liborio Caprizzi, head designer for Gianfranco Ferre; Ben Potvin, director of acrobatic choreography at Cirque du Soleil; Rich + Tone Talauega, Madonna’s show directors and many more.
The opening night, on Sunday 12 June, will feature Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Rey Vercosa, DJ Smokin Jo, live vocals from Mike and Claire’s daughter Tallulah, and many more. In the spirit of the Manumission of old, there’s also a ‘Carry On’ party, featuring Mr Doris and many more. After all, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
