Choice Cuts’ ‘Streams Of Consciousness’ event explores Dublin club culture

This coming Saturday, Choice Cuts presents Streams Of Consciousness, a three-part production at Dublin’s The Sugar Club, which will incorporate a discussion on music, DJ culture, club culture and the future of the Irish capital.

Taking place as part of the Musictown series, the event will welcome discussion from prominent Dublin DJs: Aoife Nic Canna, Arveene, Juthan, Billy Scurry, Kelly-Ann Byrne, Mark Murphy, Sally Foran and Sunil Sharpe.

The project will also incorporate music sets as well as personal interviews and conversations with all DJs to celebrate the craft of DJing and the many musical styles on offer in Dublin Club Culture.

Choice Cuts presents Streams Of Consciousness takes place on Saturday 24 April at 10pm, in association with Collective Films. For more information, click here.

Musictown, which takes place between April 15 and 25, is a largely virtual affair this year, with all events free to watch.

Commenting on the lineup, which can be viewed here, festival director Leagues O’Toole said, “Once again the programme represents an amazing response from producers and artists who’ve been stretched to their very limit during the pandemic. Stripped of a physically present audience, and navigating around requirements of social distance, it takes really imaginative, creative thinking to consistently come up with engaging events and concepts.

“Across this programme we see artists performing in historic buildings, libraries, churches, galleries but also performances on rooftops, virtually projected onto buildings, or from their own homes, and some cases collaborating online from great distance.”
