British/Spanish production duo Pig&Dan have release the third instalment in their downtempo album series on Bedrock Records, Destination Unknown III.
Released on 3 July, the album follows on from the original Destination Unknown, released in 2014, and Destination Unknown II, which landed in 2022.
As with the previous two releases in the series, it sees the pair move away from their club-focused sound to explore influences including ambient, dub, reggae, trip-hop and cinematic electronica.
“We always strive to be out of our comfort zone artistically, and this album has taken us to some of our limits both sonically and creatively,” Pig&Dan said of the new album.
“We wanted to bring all our influences into one musical journey without having to put a genre or style stamp on it. Breaking rules of what albums are all about these days, going anti generic and full out artistry. The album is also relaying a strong message that focusses on unity, nature and living as one creation.”
The album was preceded by the lead track Flying Through These Galaxies, which was released in June.
While Pig&Dan are best known for their techno, house and progressive releases, the duo have used the Destination Unknown series as an opportunity to explore slower and more reflective material.
