More than a decade on from his iconic remix of I Follow Rivers, Belgian producer and DJ The Magician is once again working with Lykke Li, serving up a remix of the track Lucky Again. Check it out here.
Originally featured on Lykke Li’s latest album The Afterparty, The Magician adds his trademark upbeat energy to Lucky Again, ‘pairing Lykke Li’s ethereal vocals with warm piano chords, shimmering synths, and euphoric melodic house production’, as a a press release put it.
The release marks a full-circle moment for the pair, with the 2011 release of I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix) becoming a global dance phenomenon, surpassing one billion streams.
The latest remix is the first release in a summer-long remix series that will see a range of producers – including Horse Meat Disco, Only Fire, Rebecca & Fiona and Killen, along with a second contribution from The Magician – reinterpret tracks from The Afterparty.
The remix arrives during a renewed period of momentum for Lykke Li, with The Afterparty earning praise for its emotionally-charged songwriting and cinematic production. For The Magician, since his remix of I Follow Rivers, he has released his debut album Voyage, collaborated with artists including Purple Disco Machine, A-Trak and Inner City, and performed at festivals and venues including Coachella, Tomorrowland, Printworks London and Elsewhere Brooklyn.
He is also preparing a series of collaborations during 2026, including projects with Nico De Andrea, Moscoman and JØRD.
