Irish producer Cailín has announced details of her debut album, Cosmic Sonic, which is set to land on 14 May on her own label, Frequency Architecture.
The nine-track LP follows on from her Afterlife EP, released on the label last year, and sees the Waterford native expand her sound from purely club-focused material.
In recent years, Cailín has performed at venues including Tresor and Ben Sims’ Machine, as well as two Boiler Room sets. As well as running Frequency Architecture, she also hosts her own Ťechnique club night.
The album’s opening track, Cosmic Sonic, boasts a ‘brooding atmosphere paired with a comforting warmth’, according to a press release, and the opening tracks develop gradually – it’s not until the fifth track, Against the Grain, that a kick drum emerges. Subsequent tracks continue to balance structured beats with more ambient and textural elements.
‘Cailín earned her DJ stripes the old school way,’ as a press release put it. ‘Now, her forays into production reveal a similar ethos: that of a studio artist willing to eschew trends and forge her own path while staying true to techno‘s roots.’
Cailín – Cosmic Sonic is released on Frequency Architecture on 14 May. More information can be found here.
