Tokyo-based event series MOVE has launched a new record label, MOVE TRAX, along with the release of its first EP, entitled Tokyo Lipstick.

The label is the brainchild of MOVE founder Al Jones, an Italian-born artist who has made Tokyo his creative base.

As a press release puts it, the EP sees Jones ‘masterfully synthesise the sun-drenched euphoria of ’90s Mediterranean sounds with the kaleidoscopic dynamism of his Japanese sojourn.’

This is most evident on opening track Shibuya Better Move, which features a distinctly mid-90s piano house flair.

The EP also features a remix of the title track by Berlin-based UK artist Running Hot, known for his work with labels such as Love On The Rocks, Certain Music Records, and Permanent Vacation.

A second track by Jones, Cosmic Pegasus, also features on the EP, as well as receiving two remixes from Osaka-born producer Paperkraft, who has previously appeared on Physical Education and HOMAGE Records.

The MOVE (ムーブ) event series, founded in 2022, has to date featured artists such as Alex Neri, Fantastic Man, Massimiliano Pagliara, Liquid Earth, Chloé Caillet, Bradley Zero, Secretsundaze, Giammarco Orsini, Gonno and Known Artist.
