THOMASG’s latest EP, Music For No Particular Occasion, showcases the UK-based producer’s adeptness at creating immersive soundscapes that evoke vivid imagery.
The seven-track EP is the Burton on Trent-based artist’s first full release – recorded entirely in his kitchen – with THOMASG, aka, Tom Gordon, aiming to “create a sound portfolio” with emotive depth and atmospheric allure.
He singles out closing track Emerald Islands as being a particular stand-out – “boasting a sound and atmosphere I’ve been trying to create for a while” – while Before Dark, the second track on the EP, similarly has the power to “take you to different worlds”.
The fact that his two young children were “running around me while recording” also infuses a child-like quality into the music.
THOMASG says that his aim is to get into producing music for film, television, or video games, and by traversing the sonic landscapes of Music For No Particular Occasion, he appears to be well on the way to achieving that ambition. You can check the release out below.
