German singer, songwriter, and composer Marc Grünhäuser, also known as Quicche, has unveiled his debut album, Frisia, on iconic label R&S Records.

The album, which follows on from a series of singles, including Red Eyes, Cyan II and White Teeth, was recorded in isolation in a secluded house in Northern Germany, with the self-imposed solitude enabling him to focus purely on creating music for himself, rather than with a specific audience in mind.

The result is an album that has been described as ‘raw, emotional, and unfiltered, an unflinching exploration of personal turmoil and the weight of familial expectations’.

Recording the album was a cathartic experience for the producer, emerging during a period of profound self-doubt, when Quicche questioned his place in music.

The result is a genre-blurring mix of folk, indie, ambient, electro, and R&B, occupying the space, as Quicche himself puts it, where “avant-garde meets pop”.
