Swedish artist La Fleur has announced the release of a new single, Stay With Me, taken from her debut album, which is due out in October.
The album, Väsen, is set to be released on 18 October on [PIAS] Électronique, and follows three years of relative musical silence from La Fleur, who traded the DJ circuit for the medical world during the pandemic, putting her Masters in Pharmaceutical Science to use managing 15 to 20 staff in Stockholm’s hospitals.
The enforced hiatus allowed her time to reflect, as she explains, “It got me thinking. What music do I want people to associate with me? I had a debut album ready in 2020, but I’ve always drawn inspiration not only from music, but changing elements in my life.
“It’s only now I feel I have the tracks ready for the world to hear.”
Stay With Me is described as boasting a ‘joyful, uplifting piano melody mirroring a whispery echoing vocal riff, high-note chiming arps over a Moroder-alike bass synth’. You can download/stream it here.
Other singles set to be released from the forthcoming album will include Plastic Miami, which is due out on 19 July, and All I Ever Wanted, which lands on 6 September.
Over the years, La Fleur has released on Kompakt, Cocoon and her own Power Plant label, and appeared at the likes of Awakenings, Watergate Berlin, Printworks London and Sub Club.
