Legendary Chicago artist Mike Dunn has announced the relaunch of his Dance Mutha label, originally founded in 1988.
Dunn, whose portfolio includes classics such as Magic Feet, Dance You Mutha and God Made Me Phunky, is also behind labels such as Warehouse Records and Muzique Records which played a key role in the development of Chicago and acid house.
Hailing from Englewood, Chicago, Dunn started DJing at local block parties, playing disco, funk, soul, and early Chicago house tracks. Over the ensuing four decades, he has released on labels such as Defected, Nu-Groove, Classic, Trax, and many more.
The relaunch of the Dance Mutha label follows the discovery of a collection of previously unreleased masters from the late ’80s and early ’90s, which serve as the foundation for this new release.
Mike Dunn Presents MD III’s Tracks From The Beginning Vol.1 is set to be released on vinyl and digitally on Dance Mutha on 5 July.
It contains three tracks, 43:31, Acid Feet (Phaze 1) and Time Machine, which are brimming with the shapeshifting acid lines and caustic synth textures that are synonymous with the label.
