Tourist unveils new album, ‘Memory Morning’

Electronic artist Tourist has announced the release of his fifth album, Memory Morning, on his own imprint, Monday Records.

Released ahead of a busy European tour, which takes in performances in Berlin Prague, Amsterdam, Paris, Lisbon, various UK cities and the Beyond the Pale festival in Ireland, among other dates, the new album follows on from the release of singles including EST, Second Nature, A Little Bit Further, Valentine, and Crush.

According to a press release to accompany the release, the album ‘promises an immersive journey through nostalgia and disorientation, offering a captivating departure from his previous works’, taking in elements of shoegaze, psychedelic and other centres.

“‘Memory Morning’ is one of those albums that really took shape as I wrote it,” Tourist, aka William Philips, said of the new album. “Often my music draws from specific life events, but this album truly lives in and was born from my imagination. I wanted to write something that felt like it whisked you away, an album that felt like a ‘place’, its own world, somewhere you might find new corners with each listen.”

He added that he has crafted the album to be “disorientating in the nicest possible way”, a collection of pieces that stir up musical memories.

“It’s the effervescent feeling of when you discover a new piece of music – and particularly in the act of listening on headphones, which is a miraculous experience that I think people take for granted, to feel as though you are physically inside the music.”

Tourist – Memory Morning is out now, and can be downloaded/streamed here.
