Polish rave culture to be celebrated at Concrete Lates x Rave: Recharge event
The link between rave and contemporary art in 1990s Poland is set to be explored at the forthcoming Concrete Lates x Rave: Recharge event, taking place at London‘s Southbank Centre.
On 22 March, the venue will host an evening screening a series of films that capture Poland’s electronic scene of the 90s – curated by Łukasz Mojsak and Łukasz Ronduda, the films include Gregor Rózanski’s Steelworks, Piotr Wyrzykowski’s Forts and Dorota Jurczak’s Legs. Following the screenings, DJs including Catz n Dogz, GW Harrison and Blanka Barbara will take over the venue’s Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer for a late-night event, backed by videography and lighting design from VJ Deruba.
Techno was a key motif of the raves and underground dance events which took hold in Poland alongside the transformation in the political and economic system in the early 1990s, and it is this evolution that will be explored in more detail at the event.
This event is part of the 22nd Kinoteka Polish Film Festival and is organised with the support of the Polish Cultural Institute in London. For ticket details, click here.
