Adam Freeland has announced details of a forthcoming new EP, Twister, which is the British DJ and producer’s first solo material since 2007.
The two-track EP is set to be released on 9 October on his recently-relaunched Marine Parade imprint – a label that helped pioneer the breakbeat sound in the 2000s before ceasing operations in 2009.
Following its closure, Freeland spent more than a decade living ‘off-grid’ in California’s Mojave Desert, where he built a studio, while also working with Ry X on their band The Acid.
The EP’s title track draws on Freeland’s interests in psychedelic rock and drone alongside his background in leftfield techno and breakbeat, while the B-side Kiligurl, features broken rhythms and dub-influenced sounds.
The release of Twister will also be accompanied by a film directed and choreographed by Emmy-winning dancer and choreographer Ryan Heffington, with editing by Copenhagen filmmaker Juan Palacio.
The forthcoming EP follows on from Freeland’s collaboration with Duncan Forbes of Spooky on the Transhuman EP, which was the first release on the revived Marine Parade
Twister will be released as a single on 18 September, followed by a digital EP on 9 October and a vinyl release on 16 October. More information can be found here.
