Beastie Boys’ Mike D is the latest addition to the Beyond The Pale festival lineup, which runs from 12 to 14 June at Glendalough Estate in County Wicklow.
Mike D’s performance, on Sunday 14 June, is currently the only European date announced by the founding member of the iconic rap trio, who hasn’t appeared in Ireland since Beastie Boys headlined Electric Picnic in 2007.
The appearance will also follow on from the release of Mike D’s debut solo single, which is due out on 8 May. His new project will see reinterpretations of Beastie Boys classics woven into the live set, which promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s Beyond The Pale.
Mike D joins artists such as Father John Misty, Honey Dijon, Of Monsters and Men, NewDad, Dove Ellis, Max Cooper (3D/AV Live), Claptone, Horace Andy and the Dub Asante Band feat. Matic Horns, Irvine Welsh, Nouvelle Vague, Elaine Mai, TSHA, Overhead The Albatross and Gabriels (DJ set) on the Sunday lineup, while other headliners over the weekend include Caribou, Primal Scream and Soulwax.
The festival organisers are also launching a new hospitality package, ‘Beyond The Pale: The Sunday Club’, which includes access to a hospitality area, dining experiences and wellness sessions. Food offerings include restaurants Host, Ibíle and Reggie’s, while wellness sessions will be led by Sophie Anderton through the Anam Kara Wellness programme.
Elsewhere, the festival is introducing a new Outpost Stage in partnership with RTÉ 2FM, focused on emerging Irish and international acts, including Offica, Curtisy, MayKay and Overhead, The Albatross.
Weekend camping tickets and Sunday day tickets are currently on sale via www.itsbeyondthepale.ie and Ticketmaster.
