Rødhåd, Acid Pauli, Elin Piel and Neon Chambers are among the artists to feature on Hardwired, the latest compilation by Berlin-based electronic artist JakoJako.
Released on Air Texture on 11 July, the compilation features 23 tracks (or nine tracks on vinyl), celebrating the ‘the implicit connection between hardware-focused electronic producers’, as a press release put it.
“A hardwired synth has connections already soldered into the machine—it comes with certain functions without needing to patch cables externally,” JakoJako commented. “As a hardware producer, I feel whenever I meet someone who creates music as I do, we have this immediate connection, like a hardwired synthesiser. There’s no need for small talk—we can speak about gear.”
Following her recent ambient release, Têt 41 on Mute, this compilation provides further insight into the musical universe that has shaped JakoJako’s artistic vision.
The cover features an original painting by Jan Koke. The label, Air Texture, founded by James Healy, has its roots in Manhattan’s club era and Brooklyn’s warehouse scene. More information about the compilation can be found here.
