New additions to Dublin‘s clubbing landscape are rare enough these days, so the launch of ‘Ibiza Goes To Dublin’ by Eden Ibiza is just the tonic.
The legendary Ibiza venue runs events in Miami, London, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Madrid, and has now added Dublin to that list, with the venue, Twenty Two, having a longstanding history in Dublin nightlife, as the former home of System and McGonagles.
The opening night takes place this Saturday, as Kellie Allen, Elena Leao and Ryan Haden take of the decks, while the coming weeks will see big names including Marshall Jefferson, Josh Butler, Arielle Free, Tall Paul, Mousse T, Todd Terry and others grace the venue. See below for more.
909originals caught up with Eden Ibiza‘s management team to discuss the new addition to Dublin nightlife.
Why was the time right for you to bring Eden Ibiza to Dublin?
Eden has a strong Irish following and this summer we saw that increase further, it only seemed natural to do more in Ireland to build a bigger community and network here. We work closely with Reboot, who has had two very successful seasons with us in Ibiza, so that has certainly had a big influence.
Are you aware of the venue’s past?
Yes we are, that was one of the factors that drew us to Twenty Two and also influenced the line up. We want to continue that history but also make our own chapter.
What do you hope that the Eden Ibiza nights will bring to Dublin clubland, particularly given the closure of many clubs in recent years?
We hope it will bring hope really, to all the promoters and collectives we have involved, to all the breakthrough DJs. We are bringing in talent, but also looking for Irish homegrown talent. We can see this working both ways and also give people a platform to get to Ibiza.
Ireland‘s licensing laws are crazily restrictive and to give the night a chance they need to change – but there is always hope.
