Gregor Tresher has announced details of his forthcoming 16-track artist album, False Gods, which is set to land on 29 November on [PIAS] Électronique.
The album, his first long player in eight years, features a number of collaborations, one of which is new single Le Meilleur Est à Venir, alongside French techno legend Laurent Garnier.
“Having been a fan of Laurent for over three decades, it’s really a dream coming true having him do vocals for this second track of my upcoming album,” Tresher said of the single, which can be downloaded/streamed here. “He came to my studio and started writing on the spot when I told him what my working title for the song was. I had ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ in the back of my mind, and Laurent came up with the perfect lyrics based on that.”
Having cut his teeth in the Frankfurt underground scene of the 1990s, Tresher has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode, Moby and Extrawelt over the years, as well as releasing countless EPs and albums under both his own name and Sniper Mode alias.
As well a Garnier, the album sees Tresher team up with Petar Dundov, Anja Schneider, Josh Wink and Sven Väth, the latter of which called on Tresher to produce his 2022 album Catharsis.
“When I’d produced music for other people before, they often didn’t have a clear idea of what they wanted, and I had to drag it out of them or substitute what I thought made sense,” Tresher says of his work with Väth. “That process wasn’t very rewarding. Sven knew exactly what he wanted, and that was quite a revelation.”
Working together on Catharsis fed directly into the creative energy of False Gods, he adds. “With this record, I embraced the idea of collaboration, and it was a whole new and very rewarding situation for me.”
The result is al album that grew “very naturally,” says Tresher.
