French/Moroccan production duo WAHM have been making electronic music since 2019, with both members – Hicham Belahmer and Walid Morsaly – having backgrounds in rock and metal.

Their work combines elements from multiple genres, using a variety of instruments and sound manipulation techniques, while their performances are known for their high energy, intense build-ups, and intricate soundscapes. Having previously released on Dynamic, Get Physical and Mobilee, their latest release is Feel My Fire, recently released on Squire’s Ànims label. Check it out here.

For this week’s #MyRecordBag, WAHM share ten tracks that helped influence their conversion to electronic music.

Agoria – Scala

“A turning point for us. Scala showed how electronic music could be cinematic, emotional, and still deeply club-oriented. It was one of the first tracks that made us realise this world wasn’t just about rhythm; it was about storytelling.”

Ricardo Villalobos – Enfants (L.D. Houctro Remix)

“This one opened the door to minimal and deeper forms of electronic music for us. Its hypnotic structure and patience taught us that groove doesn’t need to be obvious. It can slowly pull you in and completely take over. We prefer this remix over the original, as it was groovier and it always caught the crowd whenever we played it during our first sketchy gigs.”

Guti – El Solitario (Carl Craig Remix)

“For us, this is the perfect bridge between house and Detroit techno. Carl Craig’s touch elevated this into something timeless, musical, elegant, and powerful. We will most likely pick another Carl Craig remix –sorry in advance haha…”

Laurent Garnier – The Man With The Red Face

“This track changed everything. The fusion of jazz and techno felt revolutionary to us. It proved that electronic music could be alive, human, and emotionally explosive, not just programmed.”

KiNK – Hand Made

“Raw, analogue energy at its best. We fell in love with the idea of live performance in electronic music—imperfections, spontaneity, and groove all captured in one take. We believe the main background we hear is a reversed sample looped manually by KiNK; we were a bit shocked when he explained the process behind this piece of art.”

Beanfield – Tides (Carl Craig Remix)

“Another Carl Craig masterpiece. This track introduced us to a more sophisticated and orchestral side of electronic music, with rich textures, deep chords, and a sense of space that feels almost infinite. We still find it hard to make such long tracks with few elements without falling into monotony.”

dOP – Close Up

“Emotional, raw, and completely unique. dOP showed us that electronic music could break rules by mixing funk, vocals, and groove in a way that felt fresh and unpredictable. Those guys are actually what made us want to perform live as a duo – their Boiler Room is one of the best things you can find on YouTube.”

Gui Boratto – Azzurra

“Azzurra is pure atmosphere. It influenced our love for long builds and immersive sound design – music that slowly evolves and creates a journey rather than a moment. That Gui Boratto sound is still inimitable 16 years later.”

Moloko – Sing It Back (Herbert’s Tasteful Dub)

“A timeless crossover between pop and underground. This remix showed us how a vocal track could be transformed into a hypnotic club weapon without losing its soul.”

Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Sorry I Am Late

“This track hit us differently because it breaks the rules without losing the dancefloor. The use of a raw hip-hop vocal sample layered over a driving, almost off-balance groove felt unexpected but instantly addictive. It’s one of those records that feels both playful and slightly chaotic, yet incredibly precise in its construction. We remember realising here that electronic music didn’t have to follow a fixed formula – it could be bold, weird, and still become a global anthem.”
