Eamon Harkin drops new single ahead of forthcoming album, 'The Place Where We Live'

Hailing from Derry in Northern Ireland, but deeply woven into New York’s musical fabric, Eamon Harkin is one half of the partnership (alongside Justin Carter) behind Mister Saturday Night, Mister Sunday, Planetarium and Nowadays, a constellation of projects built around moments of togetherness on the dancefloor.

He’s just announced details of his forthcoming new album, The Place Where We Live, which reflects a shift toward personal exploration while remaining connected to the ideas that have guided his work for more than two decades.

Blending house, techno, and ambient styles, the album is as much for at-home listening as it is for the club itself – a record that feels both physical and introspective.

Its title references psychoanalyst D.W. Winnicott’s concept of ‘the place where we live’ – in other words, the psychological space between inner and outer experience. For Harkin, this concept holds particular resonance, as an Irish emigrant that has spent much of his adult life on the other side of the Atlantic.

At Nowadays, the Cooper Avenue venue that was borne out of the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday parties, Harkin plays alongside the likes of Aurora Halal, Ayesha, Avalon Emerson, Theo Parrish, Vladimir Ivkovic and OK Williams, while he and Carter have taken the spirit of the club to venues as far afield as Perth and São Paulo.

Over the years, Harkin has released on labels such as Fixed Rhythms, Coastal Haze, Funnuvojere, Sorry Records, Argot, Darker Than Wax, Throne of Blood and his own Mister Saturday Night Records, with the new long player coming out on his own imprint.

The album has been preceded by the single Night Truths, released on 27 January, a warped house cut that opens the album. A second single, Promises Are Sweet, is due to be released on 17 February, ahead of the album’s full release on 10 March.

Eamon Harkin – The Place Where We Live is released on Mister Saturday Night Records on 10 March. You can pre-order it here.
