Goldie‘s genre-defining drum ‘n’ bass masterpiece, Timeless, has turned 30 years old, with London Records announcing the forthcoming release of a remastered and repressed vinyl edition, due out in November.
A number of physical formats will be available as part of the re-release, including a 2LP white vinyl, 2LP gold-on-clear vinyl, and a transparent blue cassette. All will be released on 7 November, and can be pre-ordered here.
In addition, in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, Goldie has teamed up with fellow d’n’b artist Grooverider to personally hand-press 500 copies of Timeless. These exclusive editions feature hand-stamped sleeves and colour designs selected by Goldie himself. A portion of the proceeds from these copies (10%) will be donated to War Child, a charity that supports children affected by conflict.
Following its release in 1995, featuring tracks such as Inner City Life, featuring the late Diane Charlemagne, Timeless was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and earned Goldie a MOBO Award for Best Jungle Act the following year.
In the years to date, publications such as The Guardian, NME, and Mixmag have acknowledged its influence, with Mixmag calling it “the absolute pinnacle of drum ‘n’ bass LPs.”
As a press release from London Records put it, ‘Timeless continues to be cited as a foundational influence by producers across genres, with its legacy secure as a cultural and musical milestone that brought the underground sounds of jungle and drum & bass into mainstream consciousness.’ Main photo by Lawrence Watson.
