Carl Craig releases soundtrack to 'Desire: The Carl Craig Story' documentary

Carl Craig has released the official soundtrack to his new documentary, Desire: The Carl Craig Story, on Planet E Communications.

The 17-track compilation is available via digital channels from 20 June, with vinyl and CD editions to follow on 18 July.

Spanning Craig’s career, the soundtrack features tracks released under his many aliases – including 69, Psyche/BFC, Designer Music, and Innerzone Orchestra, including iconic tracks such as At Les and Bug In The Bassbin, as well as rarities like The Truth, which sees its first-ever digital release.

Also included are stand-out remixes from across his career, including the C2 remix of Slam’s Azure, and reworkings of tracks by Junior Boys and Mirko Loko.

The soundtrack is a companion piece to Desire: The Carl Craig Story, a documentary directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and produced by Sovereign Films, which features interviews with peers like Gilles Peterson, Roni Size, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, Kenny Larkin, Moritz von Oswald, and James Lavelle.

Premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, Desire opened in theatres in the UK and Ireland in May, with a US release forthcoming this summer. Special screenings were held at Detroit’s Michigan Central Station in May.

As a press release put it, ‘The collection is a historic release, featuring music from across Craig’s vast catalog, including several tracks that have never been digitally released. These selections span his many aliases and projects, offering a rare glimpse into the full scope of his groundbreaking career.’ Check it out here.
